Car repairs, quoted before we start

Five areas, one rule: we look at it, photograph what’s wrong, put a number on it, and wait for you to say yes. Parts we supply carry a 24-month warranty.

What we don’t do

The honest list

Sending you elsewhere costs us the job and saves you a wasted afternoon. That trade is worth it.

  • Bodywork, paint and dents — not our trade
  • Tyres and wheel alignment — no tyre machine, no alignment rig
  • Gearbox rebuilds — we diagnose and replace, a specialist rebuilds
  • Windscreens and glass — the mobile firms do it better and cheaper
  • Remapping and tuning — we’ll diagnose a mapped car, we won’t map one
  • Vans over 3.5 tonnes and motorbikes

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 is doing the work here. A service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, in a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where none was agreed beforehand. If something isn’t right you’re entitled to have it put right, or to a price reduction if that isn’t possible.

Agreeing the price up front is how you avoid ever having to argue about what “reasonable” means. That’s why we quote first — it protects both of us.

If something does go wrong, here’s exactly what to do.

How we quote

Four steps and a photograph

  1. Look and test. On the ramp, on the road, or on the scan tool — whatever the symptom calls for.
  2. Photograph it. Split boot, corroded pipe, leaking shock. You see the picture before you see the price.
  3. Quote in writing. Parts, labour, VAT, total. By text or email so you’ve got it in writing, not just in your memory of a phone call.
  4. Do only what you approved. Find something else mid-job and we stop and ring you. Old parts back if you want them.
